Our group aims to conduct scientific, technical, and field-based studies focused on the conservation of shark, ray, and chimera (Elasmobranchii) species found along the Mediterranean coast; ensuring the sustainability of these species’ habitats, monitoring their population status, and addressing existing data gaps.
In this context, our working group aims to:
Collect data on the distribution, abundance, and ecological roles of species.
Identify threats (bycatch, habitat loss, pollution, climate change, etc.) and develop solutions to mitigate them.
Produce scientific outputs consistent with national and international conservation strategies.
To carry out awareness and capacity building activities in collaboration with fishermen, local communities, academics, and relevant institutions,
To contribute to the establishment of long-term monitoring and conservation programs.
